NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit his parliamentary constituency Varanasi today for the first time after being re-elected as the Prime Minister for the third consecutive term.
During his visit, he will participate in a PM Kisan Samman Sammelan and release the 17th instalment of the PM-KISAN scheme. He will then offer prayers at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple and will participate in the Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat.
PM Modi will spend the night in Varanasi before departing for Bihar on Wednesday morning.

The 17th instalment of the PM-KISAN scheme is targeting to benefit over 9.26 crore farmers with a total amount exceeding Rs 20,000 crore. Certificates will also be distributed to more than 30,000 self help groups trained as Krishi Sakhis to serve as para extension workers.

Over 2.5 crore farmers are expected to join the event, including those at 732 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), more than 1 lakh Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies, and 5 lakh Common Service Centres across the nation. Special events will be organized at 50 selected Krishi Vikas Kendras (KVKs), where union ministers will interact with the farmers.

The event will be attended by governor of Uttar Pradesh Anandiben Patel, chief minister Yogi Adityanath, Union agriculture minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and several state ministers.

During the event, farmers will be educated about good agricultural practices, emerging technologies in the agricultural sector, climate-resilient agriculture, and how to check their PM-KISAN beneficiary status, payment status, and use the Kisan-eMitra Chatbot.

“On the 50 selected Krishi Vikas Kendras (KVKs), a special event is being organized where a good number of farmers will join the event. On these centres, several Union ministers will also visit and interact with the farmers,” the ministry of agriculture and farmers welfare said on Monday.
